Group unread email by type before triaging
Ask Copilot Chat to bucket a pile of unread mail into needs-reply, info-only, and meeting-logistics groups before you start triaging.
Run one Copilot Chat prompt to pull every request made of you by email this week, with sender, action and deadline.
Requests buried in email threads stop slipping through the cracks because they're consolidated into one list instead of scattered across a week of mail.
Decide the week you're covering — Monday through today, or the last seven days — so the extraction doesn't pull in stale requests from weeks ago.
Open Copilot Chat in Outlook and run the prompt against the date range you just confirmed — be explicit about the range in the prompt itself ("this week" can mean different things depending on when you run it) so the results don't quietly drift into last week's mail.
Prompt idea:
Go through my email from this week and list every request someone made of me directly. Include the sender, exactly what they asked for, and any deadline mentioned. Skip anything that's just FYI.
Scan a few long threads yourself — a request made three replies deep in a thread is the most likely thing for the extraction to miss.
Remove anything you've already completed, then sort the remainder by deadline so the most time-sensitive requests are handled first.

A consolidated list of this week's action items with sender, requested action and deadline for each.
Telling a direct request apart from an FYI — and catching one buried three replies deep in a thread — needs reading comprehension a subject-line filter doesn't have.
Ask Copilot Chat to bucket a pile of unread mail into needs-reply, info-only, and meeting-logistics groups before you start triaging.
Have Copilot grade every incoming email as high, normal or low priority with a one-line reason, tuned to your role.
You have a budget export, a status report, and an email thread — and they disagree.
